SIERRA PEAK CLIMBS OVERVIEW

California Alpine Guides offers the best of the  one-day technical High Sierra rock climbing peak ascents throughout the Sierra Nevada. We offer these special climbs on a custom basis so you can choose your own dates. Most of these climbs are big days and we ask that you are well acclimated before your day out with us.

Lone Pine Peak - North Ridge, 5.6

A classic in the Mount Whitney Region, Lone Pine Peak offers excellent alpine rock climbing in a exposed setting. It's a long day from the Whitney Portal area with a very early alpine start. The climbing is engaging but never difficult. The views of the Whitney region and the Owen's Valley are spectacular. You will meet your guide the night prior and car camp near the trailhead. This climb is priced at the extreme day rate.

Mount Humphreys (13,992 feet)  - East Ridge, 5.6

Only eight feet short of 14,000 feet, Mount Humphreys dominates the Sierra skyline from the town of Bishop. The full East Ridge offers climbers a varied, but never difficult High Sierra rock climb that can be done car to car in a long day. You will meet your guide the night prior and car camp near the trailhead. This climb is priced at the extreme day rate.

Mount Dana - Third Pillar, 5.10b

A High Sierra Classic 5.10 rock climb. For experienced outdoor rock climbers who are comfortable following 5.10 crack climbs, the Third Pillar is easily done in a day from the Tioga Pass Road.

Mount Emmerson - Southeast Face, 5.4

Not necessarily a long day, Mount Emmerson has the feel of a much higher and more remote Sierra climb, but done in a reasonable day from the North Lake Trailhead outside of Bishop. The climbing is easy with a spectacular exposed ridge at the end.

Crystal Crag - North Arete, 5.7

A relatively shorter day, Crystal Crag offers great rock climbing and a mini alpine ridge that is easily done in a relaxed day from the town of Mammoth Lakes.

The Incredible Hulk - The Red Dihedral, 5.10b

A classic rock climb on perhaps the best crag anywhere in the High Sierra. Most of the climbing is 5.8-5.9 with a short 5.10b crux. The "Hulk" is located in the High Sierra backcountry out of the Twin Lakes trail head neat the town of Bridgeport. This is a long day but very rewarding! You will meet your guide the night prior and car camp near the trailhead. This climb is priced at the extreme day rate.
