MOUNT SHASTA SUMMIT CLIMB OVERVIEW
Mount Shasta, California's premier snow climbing venue. Learn all the aspects of mountaineering and snow climbing while attempting the summit of Mt Shasta with a professional mountain guide. Climbing Mt. Shasta on our Intro to mountaineering course is the perfect first time mountaineering experience for those interested in climbing large snow-covered peaks.
We will take a leisurely three days to climb to the Mt. Shasta summit via the standard Avalanche Gulch route or the West Face Route, depending upon which has the best conditions. We believe three days provides the right amount of time to properly acclimate and learn all the necessary basic mountaineering skills. The success rate of a three-day Mt Shasta trip is much higher than on a two-day trip. Mountaineering instruction includes:
- Ice ax and crampon use
- Ice ax self arrest
- Snow climbing technique
- Basic rope travel
Along the way we strive to ensure personal attention, fine food and lots of fun. A great introduction into the world of mountaineering and alpine climbing on beautiful Mt. Shasta. Come join us this season!
