BIG WALL AND AID CLIMBING COURSE OVERVIEW

A highly instructive rock climbing course for those looking to learn how to climb big walls. Located in the Eastern Sierra of California, you will learn aid climbing and big wall techniques on smaller formations which is ideal before venturing onto the big stone. Learning proper big wall techniques before attempting your first wall is key to success!

Taught by our experienced guides with years of many Yosemite big wall experience. We are happy to share our big wall climbing experience and secrets of big wall success with you. We can customize the instruction to suit your goals and abilities.

Aid climbing instruction includes

  • 2, 3 and 4 aider aid climbing techniques

  • Specialized aid placements such as hooking and copperheads

  • Cleaning pitches using ascenders and lead strategy.

  • Big wall climbing logistics such as hauling, big wall bivies and rope managment.

Throughout the course, efficient and fast aid climbing techniques will be emphasized. Climbers who complete this course can expect to have a full understading of aid climbing and big wall techniques which will help you avoid the usual pitfalls associated with attempting your first big wall.

SKILL & EXPERIENCE LEVEL

Participants should be able to lead 5.8 traditional rock climbs. Familiarity with basic rock climbing protection and anchoring systems is required.
