Mount Shasta Climbing Regulations
There are many special regulations for climbing on Mount Shasta that you need to know
Mount Shasta Summit Passes
Summit Passes are required for anyone climbing above 10,000 ft on Mount Shasta. 3-day summit passes can be purchased for $25 at trailheads. There is also a $30 yearly pass that cannot be purchased at trailheads and must be purchased at the the ranger station in town or at the Fifth Season Outdoor Store.
Wilderness Permits on Mount Shasta
Wilderness permits are required in the Mount Shasta wildnerness for overnight use. However, there there are quotas and wilderness permits can be self issues at all trailheads
Packing out Human Waste on Mount Shasta
All solid human waste must be packed out from the mountain. Human waste pack out bags are provided at every trail head by the Forest Service
Other Mt Shasta Regulations to know:
Dogs are not allowed in the Mount Shasta Wilderness nor on Sierra Club Foundation property (Horse Camp)
Wood Fires are not permitted anywhere in the Mount Shasta Wilderness
