Ted Lenzie
Lead Backpacking Guide
International Trekking Guide
Ted has been a backpacking and trekking guide for more than 20 years throughout his home range of the Sierra Nevada and around the world. Domestically, he has also led trips within the Colorado Rocky Mountains, and the canyon country of the Navajo Nation. Internationally, Ted has led trekking trips in the Alps of Switzerland and Dolomites of Italy. He has also led trekking trips in the Himalaya of Nepal.
He says he became a guide to expose people to some of his favorite places and to take them into awe inspiring beauty no human made object can surpass. The mountains for Ted is a place he can reenergize from the issues urban life can present. In addition, he loves to teach and has been an outdoor instructor. When travelling with Ted he is enthusiastic about sharing outdoor skills with anyone who wants to know more.
Personally, Ted has climbed some of the great peaks of the world including Mont Blanc, The Eiger and the Matterhorn, Denali, the Mexico Volcanoes and Ecuador’s Chimborazo and Cotopaxi…among others. Ted is also a very experienced backcountry skier and has skied the famous Haute Route ski tour from Chamonix to Zermatt, Valdez in Alaska, as well as numerous tours throughout the Sierra Nevada and on Mt. Shasta.
Ted is also currently a back-country ski patroller for the Forest Service in the South Lake Tahoe area and also works mountain safety at a local ski resort.
