ROCK CLIMBING SELF RESCUE COURSE
Lake Tahoe, Donner Summit - 1 day
ROCK CLIMBING SELF RESCUE COURSE OVERVIEW
An in-depth Lake Tahoe based rock climbing self rescue course taught by AMGA certified & trained rock guides who will teach you the world-standard in how to perform self-rescue on rock and get an injured partner off a multi-pitch rock climb. This is valuable knowledge for rock climbers who are venturing on to multi-pitch rock climbs.
Self rescue instruction includes:
Escaping the belay & transferring the load
Raises with 3:1 & 5:1 mechanical advantage
Lowering an injured climber
Ascending the rope to provide assistance
Multi-pitch Rappel techniques with an injured partner
We begin with a quick review of all the essential knots, rock anchor building and protection placement. We then move on to teaching all the components of a proper rock self-rescue. If you can master everything taught in this rescue course, you should be able to handle just about any emergency situation you will find on a multi pitch rock climb. Even if these skills are never actually needed in real life, this course can greatly increase your knowledge of technical rope work.
At the end of the course, you will put it all together in a scenario on the rock that includes everything you've learned.
SKILL & EXPERIENCE LEVEL
Climbers on this course should have the ability to top rope face and crack climbs up to 5.8 in difficulty and be familiar with anchor building and protection placement. Some leading experience is helpful but not required.
