OUTDOOR ROCK CLIMBING COURSE OVERVIEW

A beginner rock climbing course for those looking for an in-depth introduction to outdoor rock climbing. It is based out of our home base in the beautiful Mammoth Lakes area on the East side of the Sierra Nevada. This rock climbing course is perfect for those with no previous rock climbing experience and for those with a bit of experience who want to fine tune their skills in the world of rock climbing outside of the rock gym and away from the sport crags. It is also a great rock course for aspiring mountaineers and alpine climbers who want to round out their climbing skills.

This rock climbing course includes climbing instruction in all the fundamentals of rock climbing with an emphasis on traditional-style rock climbing in a fun and supportive learning environment. Learn all the basics of outdoor rock climbing from our professional rock climbing guides:

  • Knots and Belaying

  • Face & Crack Climbing

  • Rappelling

  • Basic Anchor Building (including top rope anchors)

Taught by American Mountain Guides Association (AMGA) certified or trained rock climbing guides. Instruction will include all the rock climbing basics such as belaying, knots, rappelling, basic rock climbing anchors, and movement on face and crack climbs. Once you have gone through this course you can expect to have a well rounded set of rock climbing skills to take out to the crags on your own.

We have a large selection of great climbs in the Eastern Sierra area with everything from 5.4 to 5.10 climbs. This course is based out of the Mammoth Lakes area but we will use various crags throughout the Eastern Sierra area.

EXPERIENCE & PHYSICAL FITNESS REQUIREMENTS

  • No previous climbing required.

  • Previous hiking experience required.

  • Good physical condition required.

Min age is 14 years old.

  • All technical rock climbing equipment (except rock climbing shoes, rentals available) is provided.

  • AMGA certified or trained guides

Add a day of multi-pitch rock climbing to the end of this course for an extra $225 (based on a min of 2 sign ups)
