Yosemite Overnight Snowshoeing
Dewey Point - 2 days
Yosemite Overnight Snowshoeing Overview
A fantastic overnight winter camping adventure in Yosemite National Park visiting one of the most spectacular overlooks of Yosemite Valley on snowshoes.
This 2-day snowshoeing adventure leaves from the Glacier Point Road near Badger Pass and travels approx. 4 miles through towering pine forests over gentle terrain to where we establish a sheltered winter snow camp near Dewey Point. We snowshoe right up to Dewey Point and enjoy spectacular views of Yosemite Valley. Dewey Point is the most sought after Yosemite backcountry destination in winter, without the crowds. The evening is spent around our “snow kitchen” enjoying a well-deserved hot meal and hot drinks.
We also provide a lot of winter camping instruction for those who may want to try it on their own. As a full service international mountain guiding company, we have the experience and the mountain guides to show you the proper and safe way to travel in the winter backcountry. All of our guides are trained mountain guides, not just outdoor store employees who do it on the side.
Winter camping training will cover all the basics of:
Use of Snowshoes
Winter Backcountry Travel & Safety
Building safe and “comfortable” winter camps
Staying warm
Winter cooking and hydrating
This is also a great first winter backcountry trip for those who have mountaineering goals and want to gain experience for our winter mountaineering courses.
We provide all the gear you are going to need at no extra cost. We don’t nickel & dime you with extra costs…all you have to bring is your own clothing and proper footwear. We include winter sleeping bag and pad, backpack, snowshoes, tents and more.
