BEAR CREEK SPIRE ROCK CLIMB OVERVIEW
Bear Creek Spire one of the Sierra Nevada's finest alpine rock climbing peaks and we are excited to offer it. It is also a great next step after taking one of our Intro to Mountaineering or rock climbing courses. There are two excellent routes we offer on Bear Creek Spire:
Northeast Ridge which at 5.6 is a great introductory alpine rock climb
The North Arete at 5.8 for those with some previous multi pitch climbing experience who are looking for more of a challenge.
Both routes are considered among the finest the High Sierra has to offer.
Located in the rock creek drainage just South of the resort town of Mammoth Lakes, this is an easy two day, one night trip. The first day is spent on an off trail hike up to starkly beautiful Dade Lake where we make camp just under the imposing Bear Creek Spire. Early the next morning we embark on the climb to the 13,713 ft summit, back to camp and out late that same day.
This climb is led by AMGA trained or certified rock and alpine guides who will be happy to share their many years of experience on the technical rock climbs of the Sierra Nevada mountains with you. Spending time with a qualified alpine rock guide is invaluable to safely devloping your alpine rock climbing skills.
We climb Bear Creek Spire climbs at a maximum guide to guest ratio of 1:2.
